DCU Visitor Suites: Why Dublin City University Is The Perfect Base For Your Staycation

Dublin is a great place for a city break. Whether you’re here in spring or summer to explore the parks and gardens, in autumn where it never rains (inside the pub) or in winter to soak up the festive atmosphere. DCU Visitor Suites are available all year round offering great value accommodation on the skirt of Dublin city centre. We’re ideally located to explore the city from a comfortable, flexible base in Glasnevin, on the campus of one of the most historic and beautiful universities in Ireland. Our suites are stylish and spacious, offering guests better facilities than our budget accommodation or traditional hotels. You’ll find our best available rates on our website or when you book directly with one of our team.

Affordable Dublin Accommodation

Yes, we know it sounds like a myth but at DCU Visitor Suites, we have it! Unlike our shared and budget accommodation in Dublin, which is only available during the summer months, DCU Visitor Suites are available all year round, ideal for sightseeing in the city, a little retail therapy or as event accommodation close to Dublin City.

We offer sixteen one and two-bedroom suites, ideal for groups, couples, families and friends to explore the city without the city centre price tag. We’re a short commute from the main tourist attractions making us ideal for students, visitors, tourists, and guests of the University.

DCU Visitor Suites

Our suites offer a home-from-home experience to our guests. Don’t find yourself cramped in a small hotel room, instead make yourself at home in a suite with all of the comforts you’d expect from home. All rooms are fully serviced and have high-speed Wi-Fi, and a workstation built into each room, ideal to catch up with emails while you’re on the road. The accommodation is on the university campus but is located in its own private location, so you’re ensured a peaceful night’s sleep.

All rooms have the convenience of a fully self-catered kitchen and living room which makes it ideal for long-stay guests and visiting families. Each suite has a fully equipped kitchen and living space, ideal to prepare, store, cook and enjoy meals you want when you want them.

Location

DCU Campus is situated in the leafy suburb of Glasnevin, on the edge of Dublin City. We’re perfectly situated close to cafes, pubs, shops and more, so you can settle in easily. Getting to and from the city is easy with regular and reliable public transport. A number of Dublin bus routes stop just outside the campus and will take you to the city in 15 minutes for just €2, each way. We’re located a 15-minute drive from Dublin Airport, around €30 in a taxi, or a Dublin Coach will get you here for €7.

If you’re travelling from other parts of the county, our closest rail stop is in Drumcondra, an 8-minute walk away. A number of Collins, Kavanaghs and Bus Eireann routes pass the college too for onward travel outside of Dublin. Our team are happy to help with directions if needed.

Our Neighbourhood

We’re proud of where we live. Drumcondra and Glasnevin are beautiful parts of Dublin and highly sought-after places to live. Glasnevin has some great places to visit like the historic Glasnevin Cemetery where you can learn about its residents and the importance of their lives. The National Botanic Gardens are a beautiful place to visit no matter the weather. You’ll see the natural flora and fauna of Dublin in all its glory. Nearby, Drumcondra has the one and only Croke Park where on match days you can feel the excitement in the air.

There are numerous options for brunch and dinner ranging from a quiet bite in a local deli to a delicious French menu in Andersons Creperie. Our neighbourhood is filled with traditional Irish pubs to stop for a pint on your way past. Try Gravediggers in Glasnevin for a fantastic pint of Guinness and a bowl of delicious coddle.

Book your affordable accommodation in Dublin in DCU Visitor Suites and explore like a local. DCU Visitor Suites are available to book year-round and are ideal for families, groups, couples, tourists, or visitors to campus. We look forward to welcoming you.
